Marie (SSM) Terminal Operations Assets and Teams with the objective of delivering safe, compliant, and reliable operations to serve Shell’s fuel customers in the local markets. Adherence to both Shell and Regulatory Compliance, maintaining Shell’s “License to Operate” is essential, and the role serves as the face of Shell to the local municipalities, upholding Shell’s reputation as a responsible community member.The Keele Terminal operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is located in a major urban center. As such, this role requires working relationships with Shell’s Government Relations and Legal Teams, as well as numerous external associations such as the Canadian Fuels Association (CFA) and Toronto Industrial Network (TIN). These relationships are required in order to ensure the right considerations are being made with respect to changing legislation and/or development decisions in the vicinity of the Terminal property.**What you’ll be doing**People:* Optimizing Shell people resources by setting clear priorities, overseeing competency evaluation, completing performance reviews, supporting training and development, recognizing good performance and addressing performance gaps.* Directing contractor resources seeking the best value in concert with corporate standards on health, safety, and Code of Conduct.HSSE & Product Quality:* Develop and actively demonstrate site specific Health, Safety, Security & Environment programs in support of our corporate values and in compliance with Provincial workers regulations. Includes team communications/training, contractor management programs, compliance reviews, incident/investigation root cause analysis, development of site-specific standards/procedures/practices, involvement with regulators when needed, and formal audit interface.* Manage product inventories to ensure quality and compliance with Shell policies/procedures and applicable legislative bylaws & regulations. Involves tank optimization, stock reconciliation and interface for product receipt.* Accountable for the site Emergency Response preparedness and execution of the mandated drill schedules.* Develop and manage social performance plan (including concerns/complaints) consistent with corporate position ensuring positive public and local emergency response plans.Assets:* Maintain a high level of terminal reliability, minimizing unplanned downtime, and ensuring product availability for Shell’s customers.* Optimizing the physical commissioned assets/equipment to best value through routine maintenance, value added capital injection, and adherence to corporate standards and strategic direction.* Work with regional engineering and subject matter experts on asset/equipment/system integrity issues and action plan implementation.Operational Excellence:* Manage external relationships: Fire; Police; Industrial Associations; Emergency Responders; Environmental Agencies (e.g. Police, Fire Dept, MECP, TSSA, Transport Canada, etc)* Apply Continuous Improvement techniques and keep abreast of automation/digitalization of the distribution processes: loading rack interfaces, terminal automation systems, etc.* Develop robust structure and process for development, budgeting and execution of annual maintenance work for the sites.* Routine assessment of operations against standards and procedures via Line of Defence (LOD-1) program.Cost Controls & Value Creation:* Manage expense operating budget to maximize value at lowest cost. Involves constant prioritization of maintenance, legislative or corporate directed requirements balancing against known risks.* Financial accountability of the asset including stock loss/gain reporting and investigation as well as operating expenditure forecasting and follow-on year(s) budget planning.* Interface and work collaboratively with Supply, HSSE, Product Quality, Mobility, Engineering, and balance of Distribution Operations teams to share learnings, manage issues and improve overall effectiveness/contribution.* Develop optimized approach for annual NRM execution at the terminals to drive efficiency and net cost reductions.Others:* The Terminal Manager is expected to be on call as part of the emergency response organization for their terminals.* Demonstrated resiliency is a must to handle the dynamic nature of day-to-day terminal operations, people management, and external stakeholder management.* The role will require business travel to the SSM Terminal (approx. 4-6 times per year) as part of the leadership and operation of that asset.* The SSM Terminal is a formal Joint Venture (JV) site, but the site is fully operated by Shell.
