Job summary

Shell Canada is seeking a Turnaround Maintenance Scheduler to develop and manage an integrated, resource‑loaded turnaround schedule for Ontario operations.

You will integrate approved scope, establish milestones, and perform risk analyses to support safe, efficient turnaround execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years relevant industry experience.
• Strong expertise in turnaround/shutdown scheduling principles.
• Advanced proficiency with scheduling tools (Primavera P6; MS Project).
• Deep understanding of CPM scheduling.
• Ability to challenge logic, durations, and sequencing.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to perform under high pressure and tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the fully logic‑linked, resource‑loaded turnaround schedule.
• Integrate all approved scope into the master schedule.
• Establish milestones, phase gates, and schedule freeze points.
• Ensure schedule alignment with execution strategy and constraints.
• Audit Primavera inputs (codes, resources, WBS, CBS).
• Provide Primavera export data to Controls team.
• Produce schedule reports, dashboards, and look‑ahead schedules.
• Conduct schedule risk analyses and scenario planning.

What’s the role?

The Turnaround Maintenance Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling the integrated turnaround schedule to ensure all activities are logically sequenced, resource‑aligned, and executable within the approved outage window. The role provides schedule visibility, critical path control, and scenario analysis to support safe, efficient, and predictable turnaround execution.

What you’ll be doing

• Develop and maintain the fully logic‑linked, resource‑loaded turnaround schedule
• Integrate all approved scope, work packages, and project activities into the master schedule
• Establish schedule milestones, phase gates, and schedule freeze points
• Ensure schedule alignment with turnaround execution strategy and constraints
• Audit turnaround planners input into Primavera P6 e.g. codes, resources, wbs, cbs etc.
• Provide Primavera export data to Controls team
• Integrated, logic driven turnaround schedules
• Critical path and schedule risk analyses
• Daily, weekly, and milestone progress reports
• Schedule recovery plans and scenario analyses
• Critical Path & Risk Management
• Identify and manage critical path and near‑critical path activities
• Perform schedule risk analysis, logic reviews, and sensitivity studies
• Highlight schedule threats, float erosion, and recovery opportunities
• Support contingency and mitigation planning
• Perform Schedule Mechanics Checks with SEAM
• Progress Measurement & Reporting
• Establish progress measurement rules and update methodologies
• Collect, validate, and update schedule progress during execution
• Produce schedule reports, dashboards, and look‑ahead schedules
• Communicate schedule status, variances, and forecast completion
• Integration & Coordination
• Coordinate with turnaround planners to ensure accurate activity logic and durations
• Align schedule with contractor plans, execution sequencing, and field realities
• Interface with cost control and readiness teams
• Support management decision‑making through schedule scenarios and options
• Change & Re‑planning
• Incorporate approved scope changes into the working and baseline schedules
• Re‑sequence and recover schedules in response to emergent or discovered work
• Maintain schedule integrity and version control
• Post‑Turnaround & Continuous Improvement
• Support post‑turnaround schedule analysis and lessons learned
• Capture schedule performance metrics for future estimating and planning
• Improve scheduling standards, templates, and best practices

What you bring

• The candidate must have legal authorization to work in the Canada on a full‑time basis
• Bachelor’s degree or 3 or more years of relevant industry experience
• Strong expertise in turnaround and shutdown scheduling principles
• Advanced proficiency with scheduling tools (e.g., Primavera P6; MS Project secondary)
• Deep understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling
• Ability to challenge logic, durations, and execution sequencing
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to perform under high pressure and tight deadlines

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $160,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.
