Job summary

The Department of Classics in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Ancient Greek Literature. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

This position is being advertised concurrently with the Assistant Professor – Ancient Greek Literature position (Req 48736); however, only one appointment will be made.

Qualifications

• PhD in Classics or related field with a record of excellence in research and teaching.
• Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, including translation-based Greek literature and language courses.
• Evidence of leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills; commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Sustain and lead an innovative, independent research program with external funding.
• Fulfill a teaching and service load at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
