The Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Global 18th-Century Literatures at the level of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.

This position is in-person at North Campus Edmonton and seeks a candidate whose work foregrounds global, transnational, or hemispheric mobility and/or exchange within the long eighteenth century in Britain.

Qualifications

• Active engagement with theories and methodologies informing literatures and cultures of the long eighteenth century.
• Research foregrounds global, transnational, or hemispheric mobility and/or exchange.
• Additional expertise in Critical Race/Ethnicity Studies; Disability Studies; Environmental Humanities; History of Science/Medicine; Print Culture/Book History.

The Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Global 18th-Century Literatures at the level of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. While applicants must demonstrate active engagement with the theories and methodologies informing literatures and cultures of the long eighteenth century in Britain, we especially seek a colleague whose work foregrounds global, transnational, or hemispheric mobility and/or exchange, broadly construed. The department has particular interest in candidates with additional expertise in one or more of the following fields:

• Critical Race/Ethnicity Studies
• Disability Studies
• Environmental Humanities
• History of Science/Medicine
• Print Culture/ Book History.
