Job summary

School District No. 51 (Boundary) invites applications for a Temporary Child and Youth Care Worker at Walker Development Centre in Grand Forks, BC.

The role works with the Principal and School-Based teams to support students with behavioral, social, and emotional needs, including referrals to outside agencies. The position runs 7.0 hours per day, 4 days per week from Sept 14, 2026 to Oct 30, 2026 or until the incumbent returns, at a rate of $31.39 per hour, excluding benefits.

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to respond to complex referrals.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain respectful relationships with children, youth and adults.

Responsibilities

• Assisting in the implementation of program objectives;
• Working with students with exceptional social, emotional and behaviour challenges;
• Implementing interventions with students and families and providing feedback regarding the same;
• Providing reports to the Principal regarding program activities, children’s progress and challenges;
• Establishing and maintaining records of student individual programs;
• Other duties as coordinated with program teachers; may include shared responsibility for supporting outdoor pursuits, cultural trips, etc.;
• Must possess good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
