Job summary

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant to support students with diverse needs in our classrooms. You will collaborate with the teacher, planning team, and district leads to implement programs and materials, and provide feedback on student progress.

You will assist with large and small group activities, and be comfortable supporting students with feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed. A recent Police Check is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to establish rapport with students who have physical, emotional and learning disabilities from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Knowledge of behavior management and positive reinforcement and the ability to apply techniques as per guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with staff, students and families.

Responsibilities

• Assist students and meet with the school planning team to follow programs and materials identified by the teacher, specialized teams and District leads.
• Provide feedback to the supervisory Teacher on observations of students.
• Assist with large group activities and work with small groups or individual students.
