Job summary

ATCO Frontec in Pond Inlet, NU, is seeking a Skilled Labourer to join our operations team. You will support experienced construction staff across multiple sites, performing manual and equipment-assisted tasks in challenging outdoor conditions.

The role is temporary with a September start and an anticipated late-October finish, with travel, meals, and accommodations provided. Ten-hour days, six days per week, in a remote environment requiring teamwork and safety focus.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience in a similar role operating machinery.
• Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures.
• Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job (lifting, pulling).
• Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to read drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to build and work in a team environment with a strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Remove rubble and debris at construction sites.
• Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment.
• Manual excavation and trenching using hand and air tools.
• Load and unload cargo and materials; move them to work areas.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades.
• Safe operation of hand and power tools.
• Assist heavy equipment operators with attachments and guiding movement.

Description:

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Skilled Labourer to join our team in Pond Inlet, NU. The Skilled Labourer is an essential member of our operations team assisting other experienced construction or trades staff with activities at the various work sites.

This position is temporary with a start date of September 23 to approximately October 21. Travel, meals, and accommodations included.

The schedule is 10 hours per day, 6 days per week.

Responsibilities

• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment
• Oil and grease hoists and similar equipment
• Manual excavation and trenching using hand and air operated tools
• Load and unload cargo and construction materials, and move materials to work areas using skid steers, loaders and pickup trucks
• Erect and dismantle, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring and barricades required at construction sites
• Safe operation of hand and power tools
• Assist heavy equipment operators to secure special attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities
• Other duties as assigned
