Job summary

ATCO Frontec in Resolute Bay, NU, is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Site Services department. The role covers repair, overhaul, maintenance and service of diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, with a 4 weeks on/4 weeks off rotation and 10 hours per day.

All travel, accommodation, and meals are provided. The successful candidate will diagnose problems, perform fabrications and repairs, and uphold safety standards in a remote Arctic environment.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is required.
• Valid class 3 driver’s license is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.
• Able to weld, gas and AC/DC is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

• Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators.
• Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery.
• Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
• May be called upon to operate other equipment.
• Other duties as assigned

ATCO Frontec is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our Site Services department in Resolute Bay, NU. The Mechanic is responsible for the repair, overhaul, maintenance and service of a wide variety of equipment. This position has a working rotation of 4 weeks on/4 weeks off, 7 days per week, with 10 hours per day. All travel, accommodation, and meals are provided.

The ATCO Frontec team in Resolute Bay provides logistics services for various Northern Government and private sector initiatives, including support and maintenance for the Polar Continental Shelf Program, the Resolute Bay Weather Observation, and the operation, maintenance and distribution of fuel for the hamlet and the Resolute Bay airport. The project team also provides logistics and operational support to initiatives in surrounding communities including Eureka and Grise Fiord.
