Job summary

Good Shepherd Centres, Regina's Place – Youth Services, seeks a dedicated professional to support adolescent mothers and their children in a residential setting. You will perform primary case management, deliver counseling, crisis prevention, advocacy, and link clients with community services.

Responsibilities include assessing needs, teaching life skills such as cooking, coordinating with social services, and ensuring safety in line with Health and Safety regulations.

Qualifications

• :Post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker
• Experience working with adolescent mothers and children, knowledge of the Child and Family Service Act Proficiency
• Ability to perform housekeeping/cleaning duties in a residential setting
• A valid driver's license is required
• Experience with transitional age, street-involved and homeless youth
• Ability to work independently with initiative and creativity
• Fluency in French or another language is a plus
• CPR certification or willingness to be certified
• Good judgement, problem-solving and assessment skills
• Commitment to anti-racist/anti-oppressive practice and to Good Shepherd's values
• Schedule: weekends and rotating shifts

HOURS:
Week One: Thursday 4p-8p, Saturday 10a-3p, Sunday 10a-2p
Week Two: Saturday 4:15p-12:15a, Sunday 3p-11p
Rotation of all stat holidays

Rate of Pay: $23.28- $28.05(Starting salary will be determined by factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions)

How You Will Make an Impact

In this role, you will work to make a difference in the lives of adolescent mothers and their children living at Regina's Place - Youth Services. Services to clients include assessment, crisis prevention and intervention, supportive counseling, education, advocacy, social/recreational programming, life skills teaching i.e. cooking and linkages with other community services.

Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations

What You'll Bring to Our Team

• Primary case management and community development skills acquired through a post-secondary education in social services such as Child and Youth Worker or Social Service Worker
• Experience working with adolescent mothers and children, knowledge of the Child and Family Service Act Proficiency
• The ability to complete housekeeping/cleaning duties in a residential setting is required
• A valid driver's license is required
• Have knowledgeable of and experience working with transitional age, street-involved and homeless youth
• A proven ability to work independently, taking initiative and thinking creatively are required
• Fluency in French and/or another language(s) is also an asset
• CPR certification or willingness to be certified is required
• Good judgement, problem-solving and assessment skills
