County of Elgin is hiring a Temporary Part-Time Weekend Personal Support Worker (PSW) for Elgin Manor, a 90-bed long-term care facility near St. Thomas, Ontario.

The role focuses on delivering dignified, safe daily care and working with a dedicated team to support residents’ wellbeing. Shifts are 8 hours on weekends with days, afternoons and night options; compensation is $30.87–$31.30 per hour under the collective agreement.

Competenze

• Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Willingness to pursue further training in the PSW field through in-services.
• Familiarity with Health & Safety Procedures, Resident Bill of Rights, Long-Term Care Act, 2021, and Point Click Care.

Join the County of Elgin as a Temporary Part-Time Weekend Personal Support Worker position at Elgin Manor!

Position Title: Personal Support Worker (PSW)

Type: Temporary, Part-time - Weekend Only

Compensation: $30.87 – $31.30/hour as per collective agreement

Vacancies: 1 existing vacancy

Hours: Weekend shifts only; 8-hour shifts (days, afternoons and night shifts) scheduled between Fridays at 10pm and Mondays at 6am, there is no guarantee on the number of hours.

Elgin Manor is a 90-bed long-term care facility situated in the Township of Southwold, just a few minutes outside of St. Thomas, Ontario. Each home area is equipped with recreation rooms, sitting areas, and television lounges to enhance programming, socialization, and visits from family and friends. Elgin Manor also features multiple outdoor garden patio areas and walkways in a tranquil rural setting, right in the heart of beautiful Elgin County.

About the Role:

As a certified Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our residents’ daily lives. You’ll be joining a dedicated care team that works collaboratively to support dignity, safety, and overall well‑being through established job routines.

Your responsibilities include:

• Providing personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and transfers
• Assisting with meals and nutrition support
• Tidying resident rooms and common areas
• Performing minor treatments and reporting health observations
• Responding to call bells with attentiveness and empathy
• Participating in care planning through daily reports and documentation
• Supporting inclusive, respectful, and equitable care delivery
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
• Must be willing to further training/education of the Personal Support Worker field through in-services, etc.
• Familiarity with:
  • Health & Safety Procedures
  • Resident Bill of Rights
  • Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
  • Point Click Care
• Demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of safe, efficient care to the personal needs of residents.
