Qualifications

Please Note : These are temporary positions ending on or before June 30, 2025, with the possibility of extension.

As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help inspire and train current and future industry professionals and become part of Canada’s leading polytechnic.

NAIT’s Plumber program will prepare students to install and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment, and controls for transporting water, waste, gases, or hot liquids. Students will learn to prepare detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation, how to install underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems, and gain more experience with finishing work, such as installing sinks, tubs, and toilets, or more specialized tasks like installing water conditioners or hydronic heating and chilled water systems.

The program is currently recruiting for a temporary instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and has outstanding communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

The successful candidate will:

  • Bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team

Key Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, virtual, laboratory, and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews, and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize success and retention
  • Respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotions
  • Maintain and/or submit program/student records accurately and promptly
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  • Actively participate in NAIT’s Strategic Plan and Academic Plan strategies
  • Utilize student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvements
  • Enhance instruction quality through professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications : High School Diploma

Completion of Plumbing Alberta Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent, including Inter-Provincial Red Seal, is required.

Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completing the Journeyman certificate or provincial equivalent.

Additional relevant post-secondary education and/or professional development training is preferred.

Teaching experience is preferred.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration : Instructor salary grid $34.48 – $59.98 per hour. The starting salary for new hires typically ranges between $41.76 – $45.41 per hour, based on education and experience, with room for negotiations.

Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of annual vacation and statutory holidays. (Classification – Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement.
