NAIT is hiring a Temporary Instructor in Automotive Service Technician to teach and mentor students at the Main Campus in Edmonton. The role emphasizes diagnosing problems, engine repair, and vehicle systems, with Hands-on lab work and integration into the program culture.

The successful candidate will have 8+ years of industry experience, Alberta Journeyperson certificate with Inter-Provincial Red Seal, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Alberta Journeyperson certificate in Automotive Service Technician or provincial equivalent with Inter-Provincial Red Seal.
  • Minimum 8 years of recent industry experience after certification.
  • Teaching experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in classroom and lab settings.
  • Participate in curriculum development and course reviews.
  • Facilitate learning using effective instructional strategies and assessments.
  • Maintain student progress records and provide coaching and tutoring.
  • Use educational technology for presentations and program promotions.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and industry partners.
  • Contribute to NAIT strategic plans and continuous instructional improvement.

The program will support students to work on cars, trucks, and other vehicles performing repairs, conducting preventative maintenance, and diagnosing faulty systems.The Automotive Service Technician program is currently recruiting for a continuous instructor who is an energetic leader, committed to student success, and has outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidate will:• have strong technical knowledge in Automotive Service. • be able to work both independently and within a team environment • bring passion, enthusiasm, and ideas that will positively contribute to the advancement and growth of the program and the culture of our collaborative and dynamic team**Key Responsibilities*** Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting* Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews* Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials* Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment* Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records* Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success.* Respond to student issues* Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions* Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly* Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners* Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT 2021+, NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute* Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement* Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities* Other duties as assigned**Skills & Abilities*** Excellent interpersonal Skills* Strong desire to help students succeed* Excellent communication skills* Knowledge of computers**Qualifications*** High School Diploma* Completion of Automotive Service Technician Alberta Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent including Inter-Provincial Red Seal* Minimum 8 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket.* Teaching experience an assetApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS). **Remuneration**Will commensurate with education and experience.
