Job summary

Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences is seeking a Mental Health Psychotherapist to deliver evidence-based therapies for Anxiety and Mood Disorders. You’ll assess and treat individuals, consult families and partners, and provide education within an interdisciplinary team using in-person and Telemedicine modalities.

Formal CBT and IPT training is preferred, with 3–5 years of psychiatric and community-based mental health experience.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Psychology, social work or related field required.
• Current registration with the College of registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
• Current CPR - Health Care Provider (HCP) certification required.
• Demonstrated knowledge in CBT and IPT modalities.
• 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service preferred.
• 3-5 years community-based mental health experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Mental Health Act and PHIPA.
• Excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to work with clients from diverse ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds; second language is an asset.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
• Variable hours and locations may be required due to patient demand.

Job Description

The Outpatient Services at Ontario Shores is seeking a Mental Health Psychotherapist to provide mental health services through evidence based psychotherapies to individuals with Anxiety and Mood Disorders. As a key member of the team, you will provide clinical assessment and treatment, consultative and educational services to clients, families, community providers, referral sources and other community partners.

You will have demonstrated initiative and creative approaches to challenging situations and will be ready to work collaboratively within a specialized evidence-based service. You will have formal training in CBT and preferably IPT, with experience in working with clients who have complex issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. You will work actively with our interdisciplinary teams to provide individual and group therapy, case management, community outreach, consultation, education services and discharge planning. Client service will be through traditional in person methodology well as in a virtual environment using Telemedicine.

Qualifications

• A current registration with the College of registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
• Current CPR - Health Care Provider (HCP) is required. Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory college requirements.
• Demonstrated knowledge in CBT and IPT modalities.
• 3-5 years psychiatric experience in a mental health facility or service is preferred
• 3-5 years community-based mental health experience is preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of Mental Health, and relevant policies and legislation, such as the Mental Health Act and PHIPA is required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a interdisciplinary team.
• Demonstrated competence in individual and group evidence based manualized therapies.
• Training and/or experience in facilitating psychoeducational groups
• Experience with presentations is an asset.
• The candidate will have demonstrated excellent interpersonal and effective oral/written communication skills.
• The ability to work with clients of diverse ethno racial and cultural backgrounds and proficiency in a second language would be considered an asset.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
