Job summary

The City of Kawartha Lakes is seeking a Temporary Shunt Driver to transport vehicles and equipment for servicing and repairs across the city. You will operate a range of equipment, observe safety protocols, and assist with parts pickup and deliveries while maintaining logs and reporting issues to supervision.

Core hours are 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional extended hours, including evenings and weekends. A valid Ontario Class A with Z endorsement and a clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• Requires secondary school diploma.
• Minimum one year of related experience, municipal environment preferred.
• Valid Ontario Class A Driver's Licence with Z endorsement and clean driving record.
• Ability to read and understand relevant acts and regulations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of operating loaders, tractors and other equipment.
• Ability to obtain propane license/certification and related equipment certifications.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate transportation of vehicles and equipment for servicing and repairs.
• Operate equipment such as towing/recovery equipment, dump truck, front end loader, forklift, skid steer, truck and trailer.
• Maintain and monitor work orders and scheduling; respond to requests.
• Assist with parts and product pickups and deliveries; communicate status to stakeholders.
• Keep work areas clean and safe; participate in snow plowing/removal as required.
• Prepare daily time sheets and equipment logs; follow safety procedures.
