Job summary

British Columbia Public School Employers' Association | Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is seeking a Child & Youth Care Worker to support vulnerable students within School District No. 48 (Sea to Sky).

The position is temporary through June 30, 2027, with 8-hour days on school days and a rate of $33.04 per hour. Responsibilities include guiding students toward positive behaviour and life skills, addressing emotional needs, and coordinating with families, community agencies and school

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion plus a two-year Child and Youth Care certificate.
• 6 months up to 1 year of related experience.
• Knowledge of basic First Aid.
• Valid British Columbia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and support to vulnerable students to develop positive behaviour skills.
• Assist students with emotional needs and connect with families and community agencies for additional support.
• Collaborate with school principals and district programs for youth support services.

CHILD & YOUTHCARE WORKER

Location: District - South

Temporary: I immediately to June 30, 2027, or return of Incumbent, whichever occurs first

Hours: 8 hours per day, for all days school is in session for students
Rate of Pay: $33.04 /hour

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Instruction: Learning Services (with a functional reporting relationship with school principals), provides guidance, ongoing assistance, encouragement and support to vulnerable students in developing and achieving positive behaviour supports, personal and life skill goals through accessing approved district and community programs. Assignment will be to support students primarily with their emotional needs and to make connections and collaborate with families and community agencies in order to provide further support for the students. Outdoor education, alcohol/drug counselling, family support training, and youth support training are definite assets.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of Grade 12, a two-year certificate in Child and Youth Care and over 6 months up to and including one year experience
• Knowledge of basic First Aid
• Valid B.C. driver's license
