Job summary

School District No.48 (Sea to Sky) is seeking an Education Assistant at North Whistler Secondary School to support students with physical disabilities, chronic health conditions, and other needs. The role involves assisting the classroom teacher and supervising designated areas before, during and after school.

Effective immediately, the position offers 6 hours per day with a wage of $33.69 per hour. Applicants must have Grade 12 and Capilano EA Program, valid BC Driver's License and First Aid

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 and Capilano University Education Assistant Program.
• Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License.
• Knowledge of First Aid.
• Familiarity with basic learning tools (computers, etc).
• Experience with students with disabilities is an asset.

EDUCATION ASSISTANT

Location: District – North Whistler Secondary School

Hours: 6 hours per day, for all days school is in session for students (Education Assistant)
Rate of Pay: $33.69/hour (Education Assistant)

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Principal(s) and the general supervision of the Classroom Teacher(s), provides assistance to students who have physical disabilities, chronic health diagnoses, intellectual disabilities and/or social, emotional and behavioural needs as designated by the Director of Instruction, while supporting the achievement of stated programs goals and objectives. Supervision of a designated area either inside or outside the school, before, during and/or after school as defined by the terms of the assignment.

This position will require the successful applicant to deliver a higher level of care.

Qualifications

Completion of Grade 12 plus a special program and over six (6) months up to and including one (1) year's related experience. A special program would be the Capilano University Education Assistant Program. Valid Class 5 B.C. Driver's License. Knowledge of basic First Aid. Basic knowledge of related learning tools (ie. computers, etc).
