Job summary

Qualifications

Temporary 0.5 Kindergarten Educational Assistant

West Meadow Elementary School

West Meadow Elementary School located in Claresholm, Alberta is seeking to employ the very best school-based staff in Alberta! We believe in a team approach to learning that creates a safe and caring, student-centered environment where everyone is encouraged to achieve to their highest capabilities. If you believe in contributing to a supportive caring learning environment for students, we are looking for you to join our team. This temporary EA position is 0.5 kindergarten. It will commence as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of child development and the importance of play. The successful candidate will understand and follow Early Learning and Child Care Licensing Regulations.

The successful candidate will have:

• Level 1 Early Childhood Educator or higher or willingness to complete funded certification
• Current Police Information Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search
• Current Intervention Record Check

Desired Qualifications and Attributes

• Knowledge of child development and experience working with children aged 5-12 years old.
• Responsibilities may include toileting and/or diapering
• Provide a play-based learning environment guided by “Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework”
• Work within the Elementary School to provide an inclusive environment.
• Work collaboratively with the Early Learning Coordinator and the school principal/ designate.
• Local knowledge and experience with culture and traditions
• Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents and staff
• Have a willingness to participate in professional learning activities
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Valid First Aid certificateis an asset

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
