Job summary

Sienna Senior Living is seeking a Recreation Therapy Assistant at Bloomington Cove Community in Stouffville to support residents with engaging therapeutic activities and outings. The role contributes to individualized plans of care, enhancing resident well-being and social engagement.

The position requires a Recreation/Leisure studies or Therapeutic Recreation credential, at least two years in long-term care, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Recreation/Leisure studies, Therapeutic Recreation from a recognized college or university.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Long Term Care industry.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of programming needs for older adults diagnosed with dementia.

Responsibilities

• Provide recreation and leisure activities including outings per policy and care plans.
• Contribute to and sustain a plan of care to meet residents’ assessed needs.
• Assist in planning activity calendars aligned with care goals and resident preferences.
• Identify opportunities for residents to share skills with others inside/outside the residence.
• Identify suitable therapeutic recreation goals and interventions on care plans.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
