Job summary

The County of Elgin seeks a Temporary Full-time Cook for Elgin Manor, a 90-bed long-term care facility near St. Thomas, Ontario. You’ll join the dietary team to prepare meals, present menus, and ensure food quality in a safe, sanitary setting.

Qualified candidates have a culinary management program or Cook certification, a current Food Handling Certificate, and strong communication skills. Benefits include OMERS pension, EAP, and flexible scheduling via the Staff Schedule Care app.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a culinary management program, Cook certification, or chef training meeting the requirements of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021.
• Current Food Handling Certificate.
• A passion for serving others and providing quality care.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and produce all food served in the Home.
• Participate in menu presentation and produce high quality, nutritious and appetizing food.
• Maintain safe and sanitary food handling and work procedures.
• Keep accurate records while maintaining a safe work environment.
