Job summary

The County of Elgin invites applications for a Part-time Dietary Aide at Terrace Lodge, a 100-bed long-term care home in Malahide, Elgin County. As a Dietary Aide you will assist with basic food preparation, support the Cook, handle food safely, serve meals, and help with setting and clearing tables, while keeping accurate records in a clean, sanitary environment.

Terrace Lodge is a 100-bed long-term care home in the Township of Malahide. Our home is situated in beautiful Elgin County and features private and basic accommodation with 24-hour nursing care. Position Title: Dietary Aide/Cook

Type: Part-time, Permanent

Compensation: $27.11 - $27.56/hour as per collective agreement

About the Role:

As a Dietary Aide, you will be responsible for basic food preparation, assisting the Cook where needed, and handling food in accordance with safety and sanitary regulations. You will also be responsible for service of food, setting and clearing tables, and receiving goods delivered to the dietary department. Attention to detail is key, as you will keep accurate records while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment (knowing the proper procedures for operating and cleaning all equipment, utensils, work services, etc. used in food service areas).

Qualifications:

• Chef training or culinary management diploma or certificate program meeting the requirements of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021
• Current Food Handling Certificate
• A passion for serving others and providing quality care
• Excellent communication skills
