Job description

Position Description

School District No. 60 (Peace River North) is accepting applications for an anticipated temporary full-time (1.0) Elementary Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This position will be assigned to either a Primary or Intermediate position depending on enrollment at Anne Roberts Young Elementary School.

Process For Assignment Placement

If an Elementary position does become available, it will be posted for seven (7) calendar days. If, after this period, there are no internal applicants, the successful candidate of this position (Job Code 3946679) will be assigned to the vacancy.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Commitment to a co-planning model within a learning "pod" of three to four divisions
  • Willingness to share space and resources in a learning "pod" of three to four divisions within a flexible learning space environment
  • Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning and ability to create a positive classroom community
  • Strong belief in inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
  • Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan short-term and long-term lessons considering class composition
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with staff to enhance student learning
  • Proactive classroom management practices that maintain student dignity
  • Assessment practices that promote student learning and dignity
  • Knowledge of the new curriculum for effective planning
  • Knowledge of Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, Phonemic Awareness Development
  • Knowledge of current practices in teaching numeracy
  • Ability to use performance standards in reading, writing, numeracy, and social responsibility
  • Commitment to individualized and group instruction using effective strategies
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with diverse needs
  • Understanding of the needs of autistic children and use of visual supports

Compensation

  • Relocation allowance: $2000 from BC, AB, Yukon; up to $4000 from other areas
  • Recruitment allowance: $3,035 over 10 months (based on FTE)
  • Salary: $65,397 - $111,952 (current grid)
  • Benefits: medical, dental, extended health, group life insurance (employer paid based on FTE)
