Position Description

School District No. 60 (Peace River North) is accepting applications for an anticipated temporary full time (1.0) Elementary Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. This position will be assigned to either a Primary or Intermediate position depending on enrollment at Anne Roberts Young Elementary School.

Process For Assignment Placement

If an Elementary position does become available it will be posted for seven (7) calendar days. If, after the seven days, there are no internal applicants, the successful candidate of this position (Job Code

) will be assigned to the vacancy.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Committed to a co-planning model within a learning "pod" of three to four divisions
  • Willingness to share space and resources in a learning "pod" of three to fur divisions within a flexible learning space environment
  • Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects at the elementary years level
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration and organization skills
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging
  • Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
  • Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
  • Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity
  • Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
  • Working knowledge of the new curriculum to plan effectively
  • Working knowledge of Performance Based Assessment, Balanced Literacy, Phonemic Awareness Development
  • Working knowledge of current practice in teaching numeracy
  • Ability to use performance standards in reading, writing, numeracy and social responsibility
  • Committed to individualized instruction and group instruction utilizing a variety of effective strategies and techniques

Anne Roberts Young Elementary School was designed and built to facilitate a distinct learning environment. This process involved visitations to schools around the country, community consultation meetings and several design meetings with a cross-section of staff from around the district. These conversations on learning and learning spaces helped shape the architecture of the school.

Compensation

  • $2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas.
  • $3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $65,397 - $111,952
  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.
