Job summary

Elk Valley Resources in Sparwood, BC is seeking a Technologist to join a high‑performing team delivering and maintaining advanced OT/IT mining technology. You will work on autonomous equipment, sensor networks, and asset health systems to optimize fleet productivity and uptime.

The role requires a background in computer/IT within a mining or heavy industrial setting, strong documentation skills, and the ability to collaborate across IT, engineering and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, CS or electrical engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in mining or heavy industrial sector
• Ability to interpret and develop documentation such as process flow diagrams, system diagrams, and functional specs
• Understanding of ICS security principles, version control, electrical/instrumentation systems, networking, and databases
• Troubleshooting and supporting Windows operating systems, AD, virtualization, databases/SQL, and networking fundamentals
• Project/program management skills or business analysis in technical/OT environments
• Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Maintain and troubleshoot OT Telemetry systems, including servers, workstations, hardware platforms, sensors, CANbus networks
• Implement, monitor, and maintain OT cybersecurity controls aligned with NIST, IEC 62443, and internal standards
• Support OT-related projects such as system upgrades, network segmentation, and new technology integration
• Monitor OT system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and efficiency
• Coordinate with IT, engineering and operations teams to align OT systems with business goals
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, diagrams, and baselines
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors for implementation and upgrades
