Job summary

Kent is seeking a Telecom Technician to support telecommunications systems and infrastructure at Kearl. This is a site-based role with a 14/14 FIFO rotation from Edmonton or Calgary, day shifts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

The candidate will install, configure, troubleshoot telecom hardware, and support access control and Genetec systems, with familiarity in fiber optics and security cameras. Fort McKay, AB-based role with heavy field requirements.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or relevant telecommunications courses.
  • Electrical trade certification may be considered.
  • Knowledge of Genetec Security Platform.
  • Knowledge of Digital Security Cameras including Hernis, Axis and Avigilon.
  • Knowledge of Tyco Safety systems (PAGA).
  • Clear verbal and written English communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install and configure telecom hardware/software components.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on telecom systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair Card Access Systems and Genetec integrations.
  • Install Digital Cameras and cabling for Genetec System interfaces.
  • Assist other telecom disciplines and fiber optic systems.

About the Job:

Kent is looking for a Telecom Technician to support telecommunications systems and infrastructure at Kearl. This is a site-based role, working within the plant telecom team and supporting a wide range of telecom activities including security systems, fiber optics, and communication infrastructure as required. This position operates on a 14/14 FIFO rotation from Edmonton or Calgary, working day shifts in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Skills and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
  • Perform installation, and configuration of hardware and software components.
  • Perform troubleshooting, hardware, and software issues on a different system.
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of Card Access Systems which include panels, cards, cabling, and all associated programming in Genetec Platform.
  • Perform installation of Digital Camera’s and associated cabling and hardware with options of interfacing them onto the Genetec System.
  • Assist other telecom disciplines with other scopes.
  • Assist with Fiber Optic systems.
Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:
Qualification/ Certification:
  • Certificate and/or relevant courses in telecommunications
  • Electrical trade certification may also be considered
  • Knowledge and Experience utilizing the Genetec Security Platform
  • Knowledge and Experience in Digital Security Camera’s including but not limited to Hernis, Axis and Avigilon.
  • Knowledge of Tyco Safety systems (PAGA).
Communication
  • Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a client-facing, team-based environment.
