Job summary

TELUS Digital is seeking a Tech Consultant with a strong telecom engineering and automation background to drive AI-powered workflows for Managed Services. You will configure and test management tools, build MCP integrations and translate complex network requirements into automated solutions.

The role requires hands-on experience with Python/JavaScript, APIs, Linux/Windows, virtualization, and container platforms, plus the ability to lead automation initiatives in a fast-paced telecom environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering or Information Systems.
• Extensive telecom engineering and network operations background required.
• Strong automation development experience and ability to translate requirements into AI/Automation workflows.
• Experience leading automation/development projects in a telecom/service provider environment.
• Familiarity with ITSM processes and enterprise toolsets is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Configure, test, optimize and manage management and monitoring tools for TELUS.
• Collaborate with network engineers, analysts and architects to convert requirements into automated AI workflows.
• Develop and maintain MCP integrations to streamline operations and data flows.
• Coordinate changes, updates and deployment of new use cases for the AIOPS platform.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the Managed Services team.
• Lead automation projects, ensuring scalable and reliable solutions.

AIOps for Business team manages Operational Support Systems (OSS) network architecture, solutions, standards and strategies supporting revenue enablement across TELUS Business Solutions for small, medium, commercial and public market segments. This team ensures our OSS network meets the capabilities of our valued customers’ needs now and well into the future. As a Tech Consultant, you will drive the development and integration of AI-powered solutions to enhance TELUS Managed Services. You will leverage your strong telecom engineering and networking background, alongside an aptitude for learning monitoring and management toolsets, to build and manage advanced AIOPS workflows. Your primary focus will be assisting in the Managed Services Transformation (MST) program, in configuration and testing of management and monitoring tools, creation of documentation, building and maintaining Model. Context Protocol (MCP) integrations to streamline operations and resolve complex network challenges for TELUS and our customers.

What You’ll Do

• Configure, test, optimize and manage management & monitoring tools for TELUS
• Managed Services.
• Assist with the configuration, changes, updates, and deployment of new use cases for
• our AIOPS platform.
• Perform routine MCP systems (Model Context Protocol) development & maintenance to
• ensure seamless communication between our AI models and underlying data systems.
• Collaborate with network engineers, business analysts, and architects to translate
• managed services requirements into actionable AI/Automation workflows.
• Build and maintain Automation workflows that reduce repeated tasks across the TELUS
• Managed Services environment.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to a team of technology
• professionals working on TELUS Managed Services.

What You Bring

• Recognized for your strong foundation in telecom engineering and network operations,
• combined with hands-on automation experience.
• Ability and willingness to quickly learn and master enterprise toolsets.
• Skilled at translating network strategies, architectures, and NOC workflows into
• automated AI/agentic solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of internetworking technologies and multiple network protocols (i.e.
• IP, Firewall, Gigabit Ethernet, MPLS/VPN, QoS, Management Protocols, Cloud based
• Services).
• Hands-on experience with Python/Javascript programming, API integrations,
• Linux/Windows environments, virtualization, and containerized platforms.
• Adept at balancing priorities effectively while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Possesses in-depth understanding of telecom industry trends, NOC operations, and
• emerging AI technologies.
• Experience in serving as a technical lead on automation/development projects.
• 5+ years of experience as a telecom engineer, network developer, or AI solutions
• consultant in a communications service provider or solution provider organization.
• Bachelor/Master's degree in Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering,
• Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Great-to-haves
• Govt of Canada Security Clearance (Level 2 Secret)
• Deep knowledge of Software Development and advanced Machine Learning concepts
• Industry Certifications in AI, Cloud (GCP), or Networking (Cisco/Juniper/Palo Alto)
• Knowledge of ITSM systems (Incident, Problem and Change management, CMDB, ServiceNow)
