Description

The Resources will act as a subject matter expert on Mainframe software maintenance and hardware activities, including installation and migration activities such as :

• Supporting the day-to-day operations of the Government of Ontario's Mainframe software, including KTLO activities and project work related to software planning, installation, maintenance, and upgrades post GDC Mainframe migration, as well as recent Mainframe acquisitions for Disaster Recovery at our COLO site.
• Ensuring Mainframe Operating System support continuity for daily operations and projects listed in the operational plan.
• Supporting mission-critical applications within Mainframe platform services and the Disaster Recovery plan.
• Supporting Software Optimization efforts under the Data Center Transformation project.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational support for Mainframe Software and program products.
• Planning, configuration, and support for new Mainframe hardware installation.
• Migration support for Mainframe software and networking components.
• Decommissioning support for Mainframe software and products.
• Managing daily operational changes, incidents, and problems.
• Providing on-call support and ensuring timely ticket closure.
• Adhering to SLA metrics and device maintenance standards.
• Providing technical Method of Procedure (MOP) for changes and root cause analysis.
• Supporting Mainframe Disaster Recovery hardware installation and ongoing KTLO activities such as OS and maintenance upgrades.

Skills and Experience Requirements

• 10+ years supporting Mainframe infrastructure.
• Experience overseeing refresh and transition activities, including migration teams.
• Experience with replacement of enterprise services and hardware at critical locations.
• Deep knowledge of Data Center service models and approaches.
• Recent experience within the last 3 years.
• Strong documentation and communication skills, with demonstrated experience in change management and project support.

Additional Requirements

• Demonstrated operational support experience in a large-scale Mainframe environment similar to the Government of Ontario.
• 10+ years in complex data center projects, migrations, and uplifts.
