Job summary

MDA Space in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Canada, is seeking a junior Mechanical Production contributor to suggest assembly procedures and support the Manufacturing department during assembly. This role requires supervision from senior positions and focuses on the production flow and traceability.

Qualifications

  • Diploma of college studies in Mechanical Engineering Technology or the equivalent.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of production techniques and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly tools, manufacturing processes and machining tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software and one ERP database.
  • Fluent in both oral and written French; knowledge of English is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Suggest assembly procedures for mechanical components of simple complexity.
  • Write Routing Slips according to the approved processes for assemblies/parts under control.
  • Transfer Routing Slips into work orders and track them during production.
  • Ensure traceability is captured in the work order during production.
  • Maintain production schedule by identifying variances and proposing contingency plans.
  • Assist assemblers by performing detailed reviews during production (milestones, verification).
  • Integrate non-conformance rework procedures into work orders and follow up.
  • Assist senior technologists in their duties by supporting ongoing project activities.
  • Collaborate in maintaining the efficiency of the production laboratories and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure work performed complies with internal procedures and safety regulations.
  • Perform other discipline related duties.

Role

This is a junior level position in the Mechanical Production group. Suggest procedures related to production and support the Manufacturing department during the assembly phase. This position requires supervision from superior level positions.

Tasks
  • Suggest assembly procedures for mechanical components of simple complexity.
  • Write Routing Slips according to the approved processes in effect for the assemblies/parts under his control.
  • Transfer Routing Slips into work orders and track them during production.
  • Ensure traceability is captured in the work order during the production phase.
  • Maintain production schedule by identifying variances and proposing contingency plans.
  • Assist assemblers by performing detailed reviews during production (production milestones, final verification).
  • Integrate non-conformance rework procedures (NCR, DIN, SNAG, DR, TNR, ECN) into work orders and follow up as required.
  • Assist senior technologists in their duties by supporting ongoing project activities.
  • Collaborate in maintaining the efficiency of the production laboratories and suggest improvements
  • Make sure that the work is performed according to internal procedures and in compliance with our occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Performs other discipline related duties.

  • Knowledge of production techniques and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical assembly tools, manufacturing processes and machining tools.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software and one ERP database
  • Fluent in both oral and written French. Knowledge of English is an asset (Contact with customers outside Quebec).

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
