Job summary

Sanofi is seeking a Technologist for a fixed-term contract in Toronto, ON. You will detoxify and purify diphtheria toxin/toxoid, operate clean room processes, and support purification equipment setup with a focus on QA release tests.

The role requires a college diploma and preferably a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology/Biochemistry, with experience in aseptic techniques, QC testing, and data entry into LIMS/SAP systems. Hours are typical day shifts; pay rate is $48.02 CAD per hour.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

• Detoxification and Purification of Diphtheria Toxin/Toxoid
• Primary operator for the validated cleaning, rinsing of process related equipment.
• Primary operator for the preparation, inspection and release of purification equipment for toxin/toxoid processing.
• Primary operator for the recovery of ammonium- sulphate precipitated toxin using crude filtration with a secondary operator.
• Primary operator for the dyalisis of toxin using membrane dyalisis for ammonium sulphate removal in cold room.
• Primary operator for the detoxification of the toxin with a secondary operator.
• Set-up, operate and monitor the complex ultra-filtration unit with a secondary operator.
• In-house testing and preparation of critical QO release tests.
• Set-up and perform critical sterile filtration of tpxin/toxoid with a secondary operator.
• Calibration of pH meters, conductivity meters, scales and balances.
• Perform environmental monitoring as required.
• Complete monitor and review TR results and BPRs.
• Primary operator for the entry of tests samples in LIMS/OASIS systems.
• Execution of Validation protocols for in-house testing procedures in conjunction with secondary technologist.
• Purification of Tetanus Toxoid
• Primary operator for the validated cleaning, rinsing of process related equipment.
• Primary operator for the preparation, inspection and release of purification equipment for toxin/toxoid processing.
• Primary operator for the recovery of ammonium- sulphate precipitated toxin using crude filtration with a secondary operator.
• Primary loading, balancing and operation of centrifuges.
• Set-up, operate and monitor the complex ultra-filtration unit with a secondary operator.
• In-house testing and preparation of critical QC release tests.
• Calibration of pH meters, conductivity meters, scales and balances.
• Perform environmental monitoring as required.
• Review and verify work performed by others, provide assistance to other technologists for completion of processes. Complete, monitor and document TR results, document BPRs and prepare product for area release.
• Trouble shooting problems arising within processes. Strong understanding of ultra-filtration, dia-filtration, sterile filtration, equipment integrity and testing (including pre-testing).
• Entry of tests samples in LIMS/OASIS system.
• Preparation of stock and bulk Tuberculin PPD
• Primary operator for the inspection and release of purification equipment for toxin/toxoid processing.
• Primary preparation of hazardous diluents, critical final filters and process related equipment for PPD production.
• Primary inspector for the process related equipment prior to use.
• Formulation and sampling of non-replaceable (dry powder can not be replaced) stock solution and final bulk in clean room with a secondary technologist.
• Complete, monitor and review TR results and BPRs.
• Purification, clean room and toxin recovery area monitoring and tetsing
• Primary preparation of QO approved disinfectants for cleaning applications.
• Primary preparation of rooms (including clean rooms) for sampling and environmental monitoring.
• Prepare and sample EM as outlined by SOP. Monitor and perform EM as required per product, per week, per bi-week, per month.
• Entry of EM in Master.
• Recovery of the completed EM documents.
• Primary verification to routine facility EM schedules independent to the production requirements.
• Monitor refrigerators and incubators.
• Access FMS for facility status.
• Documentation of activities and SPC data entry
• Concurrent BPR entry and checking of calculations.
• Data entry into SPC database for SPC trending.
• Organization of batch records.
• Monitoring of cleanroom, incubator and refrigerator logs.
• Information retrieval for inspections, validation etc.
• Review SOPs every three years and update. Create new SOP if needed.
• Documentation and tracking of reference samples.
• SAP and EM Data Entry
• Data entry for SAP manufacturing processes and maintenance orders.
• Issuance and creation of process orders.
• Maintenance of material adjustment forms.
• Maintenance of inventory.
• Re-order of non-MRP items required for production activities.

About You

Education

• Minimum three (3) years College Diploma and University degree (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Laboratory related courses), plus a minimum of one 12-18 months of previous relevant work experience.
• Preferred four (4) years Bachelor's degree (Microbiology, Bio-chemistry), plus a minimum of 6-12 months of previous relevant work experience.
