This process aims to fill 1 position (47014) for an indefinite duration.

Our Offer: The Environment Department aims to improve the quality and living environment of Montreal citizens. We are seeking a laboratory technician in chemistry to join our team.

Your Mandate: Within a team of technical experts working closely together, you will prepare and perform chemical, physical, and physico-chemical analyses of water, air, solids, and food in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory. You will rigorously apply policies, quality systems, and health and safety programs of the City of Montreal, following good laboratory practices at all times. Specifically, you will:

• Conduct physical and/or chemical environmental analyses on various matrices;
• Perform organic and inorganic instrumental analyses for different internal clients;
• Perform minor maintenance on equipment according to established procedures;
• Follow up on problematic samples and out-of-norm results with the responsible chemist and draft non-conformity reports, if necessary;
• Adhere strictly to laboratory procedures and management systems.

Profile Sought:

• College diploma (DEC) in a relevant field such as chemistry or biotechnology;
• At least 1 year of work experience to familiarize with laboratory techniques in chemistry;
• This position requires knowledge of basic chemistry techniques, which will be assessed via an online exam and a practical lab test.
