Job summary

Elk Valley Resources is hiring a Water Operations Technician in British Columbia. You will join the Water Operations Team to ensure the health of the local watershed under the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan.

Activities include sampling, laboratory analysis, and advising process changes on a 7x7 day/night schedule at West Line Creek. The role requires strong interpersonal and analytical skills, plus experience with water treatment equipment and software.

Qualifications

  • Level I–III Water or Wastewater Treatment certificate is considered an asset.
  • Diploma or degree in Engineering or Sciences, or an equivalent combination of training and water treatment experience.
  • Strong mechanical understanding of process equipment.
  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with British Columbia legislation as it relates to mine water treatment facilities.
  • Monitor and control the water treatment facility to meet performance objectives and reporting requirements.
  • Conduct sampling and support third party contractors for collection, preparation, and delivery of samples to the laboratory, including hazardous waste.
  • Perform water chemistry analytical testing, laboratory testing, reagent preparation, and quality control testing.
  • Conduct process control adjustments based on computerized data and process set points.
  • Execute routine and non-routine operations including start-up/shutdown, lock-out/tag-out, draining, de-pressurization and flushing of equipment.

About the role:

Join our Water Operations Team as they work to ensure the health of the local watershed, guided by the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan!

Reporting to the Supervisor, Water Operations, the Technician, Water Operations is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of water facility work, such as accurate sampling, laboratory analysis, and interpretation of results to advise process changes. This position follows a 7x7 schedule rotation of day and night shifts at West Line Creek.

In this role you will:

Requirements:
  • Level I, II, or III Water or Wastewater Treatment certificate is considered an asset
  • Diploma or degree in Engineering or Sciences, or an equivalent. combination of training and water treatment experience
  • Strong mechanical understanding of process equipment
  • Strong digital literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite®; especially Excel
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
  • Previous experience with Programmable Logic Controllers and Human
  • Machine Interface systems is considered an asset
  • Previous experience with membrane filtration is considered an asset
Salary:

$85,000- $105,000 CAD/year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
