Job summary

EVR is seeking an Environmental Technician to assess conditions, ensure compliance, and support environmental education across Line Creek operations in British Columbia. The role involves coordinating field tasks, communicating with teams, and maintaining relationships in outdoor, remote locations.

The ideal candidate will be organized, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and in a team, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental/Engineering field or related Earth Sciences discipline.
  • Minimum one year of experience in environmental compliance or monitoring in the resource industry.
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations, standards and industry practices.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite® and software tools used for data management.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in field investigations, audits, and inspections.
  • Coordinate contractor management to ensure safe work and adherence to scope.
  • Develop and review Environmental Protection Plans and field risk assessments.
  • Analyze field data and draft technical reports and communications.
  • Collaborate with site departments to support environmental education and compliance.

About the role:

Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, the Technician, Environmental is responsible for assessing environmental conditions, assessing compliance, and facilitating environmental education and compliance assurance to support the ongoing management and compliance of regional and local permits at Line Creek Operations.

This person has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and can engage, build, and maintain internal and external relationships. Equally strong abilities in working independently and in a team, while remaining positive and motivated in outdoor, remote locations is vital.

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Understand applicable permits and associated requirements
  • Manage multiple, broad based sampling and monitoring programs to confirm compliance and environmental conditions
  • Perform chemical, physical and biological tests (air, sediment, water, and biota) and document results with detailed field notes
  • Apply quality control and quality assurance protocols to monitoring programs
  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate monitoring and sample collection equipment and instrumentation
  • Carry out environmental data entry, review, and management
  • Participate in field investigations, audits, and inspections
  • Coordinate contractor management to ensure work is being conducted safely and in accordance with the project scope
  • Supervise environmental projects, such as maintenance of pollution control infrastructure, various monitoring programs, and field-based initiatives
  • Develop and review Environmental Protection Plans, field level risk assessments, and other risk management tools
  • Analyze field and analytical data to draft technical reports and communications
  • Collaborate closely with site departments to facilitate environmental education and compliance assurance
  • Degree or Diploma in a related industry area, such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Technology or in an Earth Sciences field, such as Biology, Geography, Forestry, and Agriculture
  • Minimum one year experience in environmental compliance or monitoring in the resource industry
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, standards, and effective industry practices
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite®
  • Class 5 drivers’ license or equivalent
Salary range: 85,000 - 100,200 CAD /year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
