Job summary

Evolution Mining is seeking a Ventilation Technician for its Red Lake, Ontario operations. This role focuses on monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing underground mine ventilation to safely deliver the mine plan. It is a replacement position based on a residential posting in Red Lake.

You will conduct surveys, maintain layouts, and support planning with ventilation modelling, while ensuring compliance and safety. Relocation and a competitive package are provided.

Qualifications

• Underground hard rock mining experience is required.
• Strong understanding of underground mine ventilation principles.
• Experience with Deswik CAD and Ventsim is an asset.
• Ability to communicate plans effectively and work with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct primary and secondary ventilation surveys at scheduled intervals and as required.
• Maintain ventilation layouts, fan locations, air volumes, pressures, and infrastructure locations.
• Review weekly ventilation readings and implement corrective actions.
• Support ventilation modelling for medium-term mine planning activities.
• Lead ventilation system upgrades through risk assessments and planning.
• Maintain diesel equipment ventilation requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in emergency response control group activities.
• Assist Mine Control in responding to ventilation equipment failures and malfunctions.

About the role

The Ventilation Technician role is responsible for monitoring, evaluating and optimizing the underground mine ventilation system to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel while supporting the safe and efficient delivery of the mine plan. This role is a replacement for an existing vacancy.

The position will be on a 5/2/4/3 roster, working 9.5-hour days, and will be based residentially in Red Lake, Ontario.

We offer a competitive salary, Quarterly Performance Bonus, and future growth opportunities. The compensation range for this role is $90,000 to $114,000 CAD.

Key result areas in this role include:

• Conduct primary and secondary ventilation surveys at scheduled intervals and as required, identifying and addressing deficiencies within the ventilation network.
• Maintain accurate ventilation layouts including fan locations, air volumes, fan pressures, airflow direction, and infrastructure locations.
• Review weekly ventilation readings and implement corrective actions as required.
• Complete ventilation assessments and modelling to support medium-term mine planning activities.
• Assess ventilation requirements for stopes and document controls within planning packages.
• Provide ventilation input for development and diamond drilling plans.
• Lead ventilation system upgrades through risk assessments, modelling, implementation planning, field verification, and documentation updates.
• Maintain diesel equipment ventilation requirements and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Ensure ventilation compliance for site infrastructure, including magazines, service bays, fuel bays, and battery charging stations.
• Participate in emergency response control group activities.
• Support ventilation-related procedures, management plans, and operational guidelines.
• Assist Mine Control in responding to ventilation equipment failures and malfunctions.
• Complete applicable Ministry of Labour reporting requirements.
• Maintain ventilation spare parts inventory and coordinate repairs of critical equipment.
• Identify and implement opportunities for ventilation innovation and cost savings.
• Support site winterization activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As a Ventilation Technician, you will have practical experience in underground mining operations and a strong understanding of mine ventilation principles. It is also important that you can demonstrate:

Qualifications

• Technical degree or diploma in a mining-related field with a specialization in ventilation is considered an asset.

Experience

• Demonstrated experience in an underground hard rock mining environment, either in an operational or technical capacity.
• Ability to develop, implement, and communicate plans effectively.
• Strong self-discipline and accountability in achieving results.
• Strong understanding of underground mine ventilation systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Experience with Deswik CAD and Ventsim ventilation modelling software is considered an asset.
