Job summary

The Second City in Toronto is looking for a Part-time Technician to support the Studio Theatre’s live productions. You will operate sound, lighting and video systems during shows and events, and assist with setup and strike as required.

Collaborating with teachers, directors and production managers, you’ll help ensure smooth performances and timely communication of technical issues. This role offers hands-on theatre experience in a renowned improv and sketch comedy company.

Qualifications

  • Experience with AV equipment and technical stage management.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and assist with setup/strike.
  • Familiarity with running tech for sketch comedy, standup, and improv productions.
  • Knowledge of QLab, ETC lighting consoles and Allen & Heath digital mixers desirable.
  • Additional experience in theatrical production technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sound, lighting and video systems during shows and events.
  • Set up and strike additional equipment as required.
  • Coordinate with teachers, directors, and production managers for all performances.
  • Work with house staff and talent to ensure smooth production.
  • File production reports and communicate technical issues and equipment damage to appropriate parties.

Part-time Technician – Studio Theatre, Toronto

Pay rate: $35/hour
