Job summary

The City of Markham’s Flato Markham Theatre is seeking a Theatre Technician to support lighting, audio, and video operations for a diverse range of performances. The role supports live shows in a road‑house venue, with responsibilities including set‑up, run, and strike of productions and adherence to safety standards.

Ideal candidates have a Community College Diploma in Technical Theatre or related experience, with familiarity in MA lighting consoles, AVID audio consoles, and QLab assets.

Qualifications

• Community College Diploma in Technical Theatre or equivalent, or two years related experience.
• Minimum six months of live theatre work; ability to handle complex lighting, sound, video, and effects and guide others.
• Experience with a computerized lighting board and advanced lighting & audio systems is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on technical stage work including lighting, audio, video, effects, and set-up/strike of shows.
• Ensure health and safety regulations are maintained and theatre security is upheld.
• Collaborate with users and production staff during show setup, execution and teardown.
