Job description

Technician II

What The Role Is

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Wind Technician II is responsible for assisting in the performance of wind turbine mechanical, hydraulic, and electric component maintenance. The primary goal is to maintain safe, effective, efficient, and profitable wind turbine operation.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Follow safety procedures, observe safe working practices, and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Troubleshoot complicated mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch, variable speed wind turbines.
  • Perform all mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical component maintenance, repair, and replacement to correct malfunctions.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Use electrical test equipment to assist in troubleshooting and testing.
  • Work a flexible on call schedule when needed, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years technical wind industry experience, OR six months technical wind industry experience with a Wind Technician program certificate, OR in absence of wind industry experience, at least 3 years of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and composite skills experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency with power tools such as hydraulic tools, power torque, and diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, hydraulic stress gauges).
  • Knowledge of industrial safety practices and protocols (e.g., Confined Space, energy isolation).
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to obtain a Passport.
  • Basic computer skills, familiarity with internet-based programs, and ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics.
  • Ability to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet and work outside in various climates.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Knowledge of hand tools and ability to perform mechanical and electrical repairs.

Salary Range

The pay rate depends on location, skills, experience, education, certifications, and other factors permitted by law.
