  • Carry out environmental data entry, review, and management.
  • Support sampling and monitoring programs (water, sediment, soil).

About the role:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Environment, the Technician, Environment is responsible for assessing environmental conditions, assessing compliance, and facilitating environmental education and compliance assurance to support the ongoing management and compliance of regional and local permits at Elkview Operations.

To be successful, we are looking for someone who is organized and enjoys coordinating and carrying out field tasks, and finding solutions in a fast-paced, team environment. This person has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, and can engage, build, and maintain internal and external relationships. Equally strong abilities in working independently and in a team, while remaining positive and motivated in outdoor, remote locations is vital.

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Support multiple, broad based sampling and monitoring programs and collection ofchemical, physical and biological tests (water, sediment, soil)
  • Apply quality control and quality assurance protocols tomonitoringprograms
  • Maintain, repair, and calibrate monitoring and sample collection equipment and instrumentation
  • Carry out environmental data entry, review, and management
  • Participate in field investigations and inspections
  • Coordinate contractor management to ensure work is being conducted safely andin accordance withthe project scope
  • Supervise andmonitor environmental projects, such as remediation, maintenance of pollution control infrastructure or programs, and field sampling initiatives
  • Degree or Diploma in a related industry area, such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Technology or in an Earth Sciences field, such as Biology, Geography, Forestry, and Agriculture
  • Experience in environmental compliance ormonitoringin the resource industry
  • Knowledge of relevant environmental regulations, standards, and effective industry practices
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
Salary range: 85,000 - 100,200 CAD/year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
