Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an environmental professional to join the Environment Department at their Baker Lake operation. YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator, you will be part of the Environment Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

  • Identify non-compliances and execute continuous improvement initiatives
  • Carry out tasks required to maintain compliance with environmental regulations, including compliance inspections, sampling (water/air/soil), environmental monitoring, and worker education
  • Maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment
  • Compile and record environmental monitoring data for regulatory reporting in environmental monitoring software
  • Collect field data in remote locations under diverse environmental conditions
  • Complete wildlife surveys
  • Complete shipping and analysis requests
  • Follow up on spills in the field
  • Ensure all field equipment (boat, motor, snowmobile) is safe and operational
  • Conduct Toolbox Meetings
  • Work safely, effectively, independently, and collaboratively
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Degree in an Environmental Field
  • Some environmental field experience, preferably in mining operations
  • Experience handling snowmobiles, ATVs, and boats
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest
