Vehicle Fire Suppression Technician (Fly In-Fly out)
Job Description

Levitt-Safety has exciting opportunities for experienced technicians to join ourVehicle Fire Suppression Systems (VFSS) unit in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.


This role offers a higher desirable compressed work schedule of 14 days on and 14 days off, 12 hour shifts with company-paid housing for fly-in/fly-out employees.

About the Role

  • Inspection, repair, and maintenance of vehicle fire suppression systems at customer sites
  • Inspection, maintenance, and service of fire extinguishers an fire & life safety services equipment as required
  • Perform after-hours and on-call duties as required
  • Being the Face of Levitt-Safety for our customers and their onsite safety needs

Ideal Qualifications

  • Prior experience in (Ansul) fire suppression services is a must
  • Mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting skills & basic electrical knowledge
  • Experience working in a mechanical shop or equivalent hands-on role with vehicles or other motorized equipment is a strong asset
  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior customer service experience and great communication skills
  • Comfortable using technology such as iPads, cell phones and laptops
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment screening
  • Pre-employment drug & alcohol screening
  • Valid driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
  • Background check as well as able to provide proof of Covid-19 vaccination

Physical Requirements & Safety Compliance

This is a physically demanding role the successful candidate must be:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs.unassisted, coupled with good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Work in restricted spaces such as engine compartments
  • Work on heights on large mine equipment using ladders and walkways
  • Driving and sitting for extended periods of time
  • Frequent walking on uneven terrain on customer sites
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination is required as part of our pre-employment checks, subject to requirements for accommodation

You will support a strong safety culture and service team by being a part of regular safety meetings, ensuring adherence to safe work practices, and proactively identifying and addressing hazards. This role models safe behavior, works closely with the Quality team to uphold service standards and contributes to incident prevention and continuous improvement in safety performance.
