Qualifications

  • Minimum college diploma in finance, accounting, or related training.
  • Seven years of relevant experience in financial accounting, transactional processing, reconciliations, payroll support.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, reconcile, and monitor general ledger accounts, including journal entries and variance explanations.
  • Participate in quarterly/annual financial statements and audit files.
  • Monitor prepaid expenses, revenues, contract holdbacks, accruals, and related accounts.
  • Prepare tax remittance reports and assist with government forms and tax slips.
  • Support payroll activities and understand SAP and Nethris interfaces.

Your mission

JCCBI is looking for a Technician, Accounting to help fulfill the mission of theFinance Department which is stated as follows: In collaboration with internal and external partners, our department diligently produces and reports on financial information as per accountability requirements to help soundly manage public funds.

Reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations, you actively participate in carrying out and coordinating activities related to financial accounting, payroll, billing, general accounting, budget monitoring, and account review, while ensuring the quality, compliance, and reliability of the financial information produced.

You contribute to the evolution of the Finance Department’s accounting practices by combining transactional expertise, sound judgment, rigour, proficiency with digital tools, and a continuous improvement mindset. In this context, you are called upon to perform accounting activities with precision, optimize certain processes in line with digital transformation objectives, structure information, and serve as a positive reference for your colleagues.

  • Prepare, reconcile, and monitor the general ledger accounts under their responsibility, including journal entries, accounting validations, variance explanations, required follow-ups, and documentation of controls performed;
  • Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, as well as period-end and year-end audit files;
  • Perform monthly monitoring and validation of prepaid expenses, revenues, contract holdbacks, security deposits, and other accrual accounts under their responsibility;
  • Prepare consumption tax remittance reports and collaborate in the production of government and tax forms, including tax slips when required;
  • Contribute to payroll-related activities in a support, collaborative, or replacement capacity, particularly through an understanding of SAP and Nethris interfaces, controls, processing activities, accounting entries, remittances, and related reconciliations;
  • Assume operational responsibility for designated accounting processes within their area of involvement, including ensuring their documentation, digital evolution, and the quality of the resulting financial information;
  • Contribute to the evolution of their role by leveraging available digital tools, participating in the improvement of work methods, and proposing ways to increase the efficiency, quality, and reliability of accounting processes;
  • Participate, as needed, in follow-ups related to payroll activities;
  • Communicate instructions, work methods, and accounting best practices to team members, support the onboarding of new employees, and provide technical assistance within their area of accounting expertise;
  • Collaborate with other sectors of the Finance Department and business units to ensure consistent processing, smooth information sharing, and compliance with operational deadlines;
  • Contribute to the coordination, control, and regulation of accounting and administrative processes within their area of involvement, while ensuring compliance with applicable standards, procedures, governance rulesand confidentiality requirements;
  • Prepare accounting, financial, statistical, or budget files as needed, and support the analysts, the Manager, Financial Operations, and the Manager, Budgets and Management Information in preparing files, follow-ups, and accountability reporting;
  • Prepare bank deposits, provide cash receipt coding, perform required bank reconciliations, and control the accuracy of financial data under their responsibility;
  • Keep their knowledge up to date in accounting, taxation, payroll, financial tools used by the Finance Department, and best practices applicable to accounting operations;
  • Perform any other tasks or responsibilities related to this position.
Experience and education
  • Possess, at a minimum, a college diploma in finance, accounting, or other relevant training;
  • Have a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in financial accounting, transactional processing, reconciliations, support for financial operations, and payroll;
  • Have practical knowledge of payroll systems and related payroll processes;
  • Possess practical knowledge of accounting software or a financial system used in an organizational context;
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate accounting activities, provide technical guidance to colleagues, and clearly explain work methods, instructions, and best practices;
  • Demonstrate an understanding of internal control requirements, financial information quality, transaction traceability, and compliance with organizational procedures;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken French and functional English skills.
Assets
  • Knowledge of generative AI tools such as Copilot and "prompt engineering";
  • Hold a Payroll Compliance Specialist certification or equivalent training;
  • Have practical experience with Nethris and payroll processes integrated into financial operations;
  • Possess a good command of Excel and common office tools used to prepare, monitor, and validate financial information.
  • Demonstrate a customer service mindset, team spirit, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders;
  • Possess the ability to work with a high volume of transactions, data, and information while maintaining a constant focus on quality;
