Liftow Limited in Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking a Shop Technician who, under the guidance of a senior Technician, diagnoses problems, performs repairs and provides preventive maintenance on material handling equipment such as forklifts and electric carts.

You will use electronic manuals, digital voltage meters and diagnostic software to troubleshoot, ensure safety, and hand back fully operational equipment to customers.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience with 1–3 years in forklift or related fields.
  • Experience with electrical/electronic diagnosis preferred.
  • Willingness to operate in a fast-paced environment and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and services on forklifts, stackers, electric carts, and similar equipment.
  • Carry out preventive maintenance and Lift Device Inspections as prescribed.
  • Use electronic manuals, digital voltage meters, and diagnostic software to service equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned and operational for delivery to customer.
  • Keep work area clean and safe.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Working together and with the guidance of a senior Technician, the Shop Technician diagnoses problems, performs repairs and provides preventative maintenance service on material handling equipment.

Specific Accountabilities
  • Performs repairs and services on various types of material handling equipment and its components including forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and Lift Device Inspection at prescribed intervals of time and repairs on various types of material handling equipment including forklifts, stackers, electric carts, electric tow trucks, transporters.
  • knowledge of utilizing electronic manuals, use of digital voltage meters and applicable diagnostic software for repairing/servicing of material handling equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical/electronic component diagnosis.
  • Uses instruction manuals and wiring diagrams to diagnose components, and electrical wiring.
  • Ensures work performed is verified and the truck cleaned and operational for delivery to the customer.
  • Ensures customer/shop work area is clean and free of debris, oil and grease.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience

Completion of a high school diploma and or equivalent work experience and at least 1 to 3 years of work experience in forklift or related fields such as automotive, heavy equipment etc.

Competencies and Skills
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of mechanical, Hydraulic and electrical systems of battery and Internal Combustion engine powered material handling equipment
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles
  • Knowledge of the use of hand tools and measuring devices
  • Knowledge of the use of electrical/electronic diagnostic tools/measurements
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, written and communication skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced and changing environment
Working Conditions

The Service Technician will work in an environment and would be exposed varying temperatures and subjected to dust, dirt, grease, and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud. Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment. Requires the ability to lift 50 pounds.
