This hybrid remote role covers the postal code area around Halifax, offering flexible hours, training opportunities, and a collaborative environment with engineers, data managers, and project leads.

Qualifications

• 5+ years authoring XML/SGML-based technical documentation.
• Experience producing S1000D content including DMs/DMRLs/BREX validation.
• Experience with structured authoring tools (Arbortext, oXygen).
• Knowledge of aerospace/mechanical/electrical domains.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation per S1000D, ATA iSpec 2200, etc.
• Author Data Modules using XML/SGML in a structured environment.
• Interpret drawings and procedures to produce user-focused docs.
• Ensure compliance with BREX and project-specific rules.
• Collaborate with engineers and data managers to deliver timely content.
• Maintain version control and support configuration management.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes.

Job Summary

At Sonovision, we deliver high-quality technical documentation supporting some of the most advanced aerospace and defense programs in the world. We are seeking a Technical Writer with strong expertise in XML/SGML-based structured authoring, S1000D, and ATA iSpec 2200. Your work will transform complex engineering information into clear, accurate, and compliant technical content used globally. This is a hybrid remote work opportunity in the postal code area of L5L 3S6.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, and maintain technical documentation in accordance with S1000D (Issue 4.x/5.x), ATA iSpec 2200, ATA 100, and AG-006 standards.
• Author Data Modules (DMs) using XML/SGML in a structured authoring environment.
• Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance procedures, and technical designs to produce accurate, user-focused documentation.
• Ensure compliance with BREX rules, project-specific business rules, and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers, technical data managers, and project leads to ensure high-quality and timely deliverables.
• Maintain version control, track changes, and support configuration management activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and internal best practices.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience authoring XML/SGML-based technical documentation.
• Hands‑on experience producing S1000D‑compliant content, including DMs, DMRLs, and BREX validation.

• Experience with structured authoring tools such as Arbortext Editor, oXygen XML Author, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of aerospace or mechanical/electrical technical domains.
• Excellent written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with ATA iSpec 2200 documentation requirements.
• Knowledge of ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (STE).
• Experience with CSDB systems such as EAGLE Publishing System, R4i, Tridion Docs, or comparable platforms.
• Aerospace maintenance or engineering background.
