Position Title: Technical Support Officer – Aquaculture Facility

The Role:

As a Technical Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the operations of the Aquaculture Facility. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the daily operations of marine systems involving both seawater and freshwater environments.

  • Breeding and caring for marine organisms within the facility.

  • Maintaining aquaculture systems including tanks, filtration units, pumps, pipelines, and alarm systems.

  • Monitoring water quality and interpreting chemistry data to ensure optimal conditions.

  • Identifying common aquatic diseases and coordinating with lab personnel for appropriate action.

  • Liaising with external vendors for equipment servicing and facility maintenance.

  • Managing inventory of livestock, feed, consumables, and equipment.

  • Supporting administrative tasks such as lab request processing and procurement.

  • Preparing materials for practical lessons, workshops, and events.

  • Assisting in guided tours and educational visits to the facility.

  • Providing support for the Greenhouse and Agriculture Technology Lab when needed.

  • Being available to respond to facility issues during weekends or public holidays when required.

What Are We Looking For?

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable individual with the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Higher NITEC or Diploma in Marine Science, Aquaculture, Environmental and Marine Science, or Veterinary Technology.

  • Prior experience in aquaculture operations is advantageous.

  • Able to work in environments involving freshwater, seawater, and disinfectants.

  • Basic mechanical skills are a plus.

  • Strong team player with a flexible and proactive approach to work.

  • Comfortable with hands-on tasks and working in a dynamic environment.

  • Able to interpret technical data and make informed decisions.

  • Good communication and coordination skills for vendor and team interactions.

  • Willingness to work outside regular hours when necessary.

  • Interest in supporting educational and research activities.
