Technical Sales Manager, Biotech - EMEA, APAC

Main Functions

Reporting to the Biotech Commercial Director and working closely with the Global Key Account Manager, this Technical Sales Manager position is responsible for direct B2B sales of the biotech portfolio to end-users (eg. manufacturers of probiotics, pharmaceuticals, diagnostic media, etc)

The role requires a robust technical background, intellectual curiosity, and business tenacity to be successful in a fast-growing industry.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS :

  • Plan and organize sales activities;
  • Build and maintain a strong, trust-based, and lasting relationship with clients;
  • Develop the territory through identification of potential collaborations and prospects;
  • Capture and communicate upward market and competitive information;
  • Report and follow up on leads and opportunities using a CRM (Dynamics 365);
  • Identify new partnership opportunities and development projects for both new and existing products;
  • Develop the sales pitch in alignment with group price guidelines and communicate to clients;
  • Attend local trade shows and exhibitions as necessary;
  • Develop and manage client forecasts;
  • Follow orders with the Supply Chain & Customer Service functions;
  • Inform internal functions of any concerns communicated by the clients;
  • Analyze sales results and prepare annual sales budget;
  • Work collaboratively with clients as well as with the Quality, Marketing, Supply Chain and Sales functions;
  • Deliver on the portfolio sales and margin goals.

Technical skills

Required

  • Technical / Scientific education with a degree in microbiology, biotechnology or related life science disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in either technical support or sales

An asset

  • Other European languages
