TAG HR in Ottawa is seeking a Technical Project Manager to oversee technology installation projects from planning through completion. The role is hands-on, combining office duties with active site visits and coordination with general contractors, owners, consultants, and installation teams.

The successful candidate will read technical drawings, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience.

About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing technology and systems integration company in Ottawa. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee technology installation projects from initial planning through successful completion.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being involved in both the office and the field. You will work closely with general contractors, building owners, consultants, subcontractors, trades, field installation teams, customers, and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.

The successful candidate will be an organized and personable project manager who can confidently read technical drawings, coordinate work on active job sites, identify potential issues early, and build strong working relationships with contractors and trades.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage technology installation projects from kickoff through completion
  • Coordinate with general contractors, building owners, consultants, subcontractors, customers, and internal teams
  • Lead project meetings, site reviews, and progress updates
  • Plan and schedule installation teams, subcontractors, materials, and project resources
  • Review project scope, drawings, timelines, change orders, and customer requirements
  • Read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, architectural drawings, and technical documentation
  • Conduct regular site walkthroughs to monitor project progress, quality, and safety
  • Work directly with subcontractors and trades to resolve issues and keep projects moving
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, milestones, risks, deficiencies, and outstanding items
  • Identify potential project issues early and proactively communicate solutions
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within approved budgets
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers, management, and internal departments
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Procurement, Technical Support, Accounting, and Installation teams
  • Ensure project documentation, work orders, notes, sign-offs, and closeout materials are completed accurately
  • Support continuous improvement of project processes, communication, and internal hand-offs
  • Ensure work is completed professionally, safely, and in accordance with company standards
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of project management experience
  • Experience in technology, construction, electrical, security, communications, low-voltage, AV, systems integration, or a related environment is preferred
  • Fluency in both English and French, written and verbal, is required
  • Experience working with general contractors, building owners, consultants, subcontractors, and installation teams
  • Strong understanding of construction timelines and site coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and technical drawings
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Personable and approachable, with the ability to quickly build trust with contractors, trades, customers, and site teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable working in both office and active job-site environments
  • Proficiency with project management software, CRM/ticketing systems, Google Workspace, and general business software
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a personal vehicle are required, as travel to project sites will be necessary
  • Mileage and fuel expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy
Assets
  • Experience with technology installations in healthcare, commercial, or institutional environments
  • Experience managing subcontractors and field technicians
  • Knowledge of low-voltage systems, access control, security, networking, nurse call, AV, or related technologies
  • Experience working with architectural, electrical, or low-voltage drawings on active construction sites
  • PMP certification or other project management training

Compensation & Benefits
