Job summary

Onterris is seeking an Intermediate Environmental Project Manager in Grande Prairie, AB to lead a portfolio of environmental projects. You will interact with multidisciplinary staff, regulators, and clients to ensure successful delivery while upholding our safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes coordinating budgets, schedules, and technical reporting for regulatory submissions. A strong background in environmental consulting and mentoring is essential for career progression.

Qualifications

  • Degree in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or engineering.
  • Six years of environmental consulting experience with at least two years in project management.
  • Eligible for registration in a professional organization (e.g. AIA, ASET, APEGA).
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities; self-motivated.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of simple to moderately complex projects with scopes, schedules and budgets.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions (including ESAs, RAPs, RMPs).
  • Communicate with stakeholders, and mentor junior staff.
  • Support growth and development within the project team.

Technical Project Manager – Grande Prairie, AB, or surrounding area
A Day in the Life

As an Intermediate Environmental Project Manager, in Grande Prairie you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

The compensation range for this role is $31.00 to $45.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of simple to moderately complex project scopes, schedules and budgets and coordinate with internal project teams across disciplines to facilitate delivery of high-quality products to meet our client’s requirements

  • Communicate with client’s program management team and project related stakeholders and subcontractors on technical and project management scopes

  • Prepare technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates, including preparing sub-contractor requests for proposals and complete proposal evaluation to present sub-contractor with recommendations in-line with client procurement standards

  • Prepare technical reports with a primary focus on regulatory submissions (Record of Site Conditions, Comprehensive Site Reviews, Conceptual Site Models, Phase 1 ESA, Phase 2 ESA, RMP/RAP, Detailed Site Assessments, Remedial Summary Reports, and Remediation or Reclamation Certificate Applications)

  • Function effectively within and contribute to the success of a collaborative, highly integrated team

  • Proactively engage and participate in development opportunities to support your career growth

  • Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff members

Your Expertise and Skills

These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here.

  • A degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or engineering

  • A minimum of six (6) years previous environmental consulting experience with a minimum of two (2) years of direct project management experience

  • Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization (e.g. AIA, ASET, APEGA)

  • Self-motivated, possess strong communication skills (verbal and written), and strong leadership skills

  • Experience with estimating costs and leading site assessment and remediation programs in the oil & gas industry

  • Experience writing technical reports including ESAs, RMPs, RAPs, etc.

  • Willingness to provide direction and mentorship to more junior and intermediate professionals

  • Experience with the Alberta Energy Regulator’s OneStop tool and working knowledge of provincial regulatory frameworks in Western Canada is also an asset

  • Experience with Workday software would be an asset

  • A valid and clean class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
