Job summary

Onterris Canada in Fort St. John, BC, is seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist/Technologist to support multiple projects under supervision.

You’ll interact with interdisciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients while contributing to field investigations and remediation planning. The role offers hands-on experience in environmental assessment, site characterization, data interpretation and technical reporting, with growth opportunities within a leading global environmental solutions

Qualifications

  • A degree or technical diploma in environmental science, geology, hydrogeology or engineering.
  • 1+ years’ experience managing assessment, reclamation, remediation and monitoring projects for Oil and Gas clients within a consulting environment would be considered an asset.
  • Eligibility for registration in or maintaining a good standing in a professional organization
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated and possess strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • A strong knowledge of British Columbia regulatory framework
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management

  • Supervise sub-contractors
  • Initial interpretation of field data to make field-related decisions
  • Work with senior technical advisors to ensure high quality products that meet our clients’ unique project needs
  • Communicate and liaise with clients and project related stakeholders
  • Manage project related timelines and budgets
  • Preparation of technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, and summary reports
  • Function effectively as part of a collaborative team

A Day in the Life


As a Junior Environmental Scientist/Technologist, in Fort St. John, British Columbia, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.


The compensation range for this role is $24.00 to $35.00, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Works predominantly outdoors and may be exposed to hot and cold environments and extreme weather conditions, including sunlit, rainy and windy conditions

  • Lifting 50 pounds several times a day

  • Overhead lifting of over 20 pounds

  • Works in an office environment when not deployed on an emergency response
