Technical Product Owner – Platform Engineering
- Represent the needs of developers, ML engineers, and infrastructure teams by gathering feedback and ensuring their requirements shape platform evolution.
- Manage and Prioritize the Product Backlog
- Define, refine, and prioritize user stories with clear acceptance criteria to guide the platform engineering team effectively.
- Facilitate Agile Ceremonies and Sprint Planning
- Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and coordinate cross-functional team efforts to maintain delivery momentum.
- Align Stakeholders on Platform Strategy
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand usage patterns and pain points, aligning goals across teams for maximum impact.
- Contribute to Platform Architecture Decisions
- Provide input into architectural discussions, especially in areas like container orchestration, serverless computing, and multi-account cloud setups.
- Review Technical Design Proposals
- Evaluate and offer feedback on proposed technical solutions to ensure they meet platform standards and business needs.
- Define and Own the Platform Roadmap
- Establish short- and long-term plans for platform capabilities, including CI/CD tooling, observability, and infrastructure automation.
- Track Feature Delivery and Platform Adoption
- Monitor the implementation of new features and assess their usage to inform future platform iterations and improvements.
- Promote Developer Enablement and Self-Service
- Champion tools and features that simplify the developer experience, such as self-service provisioning and GitOps practices.
- Encourage Best Practices in CI/CD and DevOps
- Support the adoption of standardized, automated workflows and promote infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
- Analyze Feedback to Guide Platform Enhancements
- Collect insights from internal users to identify usability gaps and prioritize features that enhance platform effectiveness.
- Develop and update platform-related documentation, onboarding materials, and API references to support internal users.
- Communicate Platform Changes Across Teams
- Keep engineering teams informed about updates, new features, and operational changes through clear and timely communication.
Requirements
- 5+ Years of Relevant Experience
- Demonstrated experience in Product Management, Technical Program Management, or Platform Engineering roles.
- Proven ability to work effectively with cloud-native platforms and internal developer tooling.
- Understanding of Platform Architecture
- Familiarity with modern cloud infrastructure, including container orchestration, serverless design, and multi-account strategies.
- Strong DevOps Acumen
- Working knowledge of contemporary DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and infrastructure automation.
- End-to-End Product Lifecycle Management
- Experience leading product development from initial planning to release, adoption, and continuous improvement.
- Track record of working within Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and contributing to regular sprint planning and retrospectives.
- Exceptional Stakeholder Management
- Proven ability to align diverse stakeholders around product goals, negotiate trade-offs, and manage expectations effectively.
- Clear and Concise Communication
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with technical and non-technical audiences.
- User-Centric Mindset
- Ability to empathize with developer users and translate feedback into actionable platform improvements.
- Decision-Making with Technical Awareness
- Confidence in participating in architectural discussions and making informed decisions in technical contexts.
- Experience with Internal Developer Platforms
- Familiarity with building or managing platforms that improve developer experience and operational efficiency.
- Analytical and Data-Driven Approach
- Comfortable using data and metrics to guide product decisions and measure success of platform initiatives.
