Job summary

RBC is seeking a Technical Product Owner to bridge business, operations, compliance and engineering for payment solutions in a regulated financial services context. You will help analyze, design, deliver and validate high-value real-time payments platforms, embedding controls and best practices throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in Financial Services, Payments, or Banking Technology, with at least 2 years in Technical Product Ownership, Business Systems Analysis, or an equivalent role.
  • Hands-on experience with Correspondent Payment routing, including understanding payment message flows, routing logic, and settlement processes.
  • Exposure to High-Value Payments, SWIFT MT/MX messaging, or ISO 20022 standards (deep expertise not required).
  • Familiarity with sanctions screening, AML controls, or regulatory compliance considerations in a payments context.
  • Experience in Agile, Scrum, or SAFe delivery models with the ability to communicate with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to document requirements clearly and present findings.

Responsibilities

  • Support the product backlog, roadmap, and delivery activities for payment processing and platform modernization initiatives under guidance of senior team members.
  • Translate business objectives into clear functional and technical requirements across concurrent priorities.
  • Participate in requirements elicitation, solution design, and cross-functional alignment across multiple lines of business.
  • Analyze and document payment capabilities focusing on Correspondent Payment routing; contribute to Domestic and Cross-Border payments, SWIFT MT/MX and ISO 20022 initiatives.
  • Support integration of sanctions screening, AML controls, and regulatory requirements into payment workflows and system design.
  • Identify issues, conflicts, and risks; escalate and collaborate on mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted delivery practices across the SDLC to support automation and continuous improvement.
  • Build working relationships across business units to define deliverables and ensure initiatives are integrated into procedures.

What is the opportunity?

Our Enterprise Payments team is modernizing high-value and real-time payment platforms, and we're looking for a motivated Technical Product Owner to grow with us. In this role, you will serve as a key connector between business stakeholders, operations, compliance, and engineering - supporting the analysis, design, delivery, and validation of payment solutions in a regulated financial services environment. You will contribute to outcomes across the product lifecycle, helping embed regulatory controls and best practices into every stage of delivery. If you have a foundation in payments technology and a drive to expand your expertise across complex, cross-functional initiatives, this is the role for you.

What will you do?
Key Responsibilities

What do you need to succeed?
What You Bring
