Mariposa Dairy is a leading manufacturer of award-winning cheeses based in Lindsay, Ontario. Our aim is to provide the highest quality cheese products in North America through the efforts of our skilled and valued team for the benefit of our customers and community.
We are currently seeking a full-time Technical Operator Production reporting to the Production Supervisor. Our organization is a growing and dynamic business and operates in our two facilities just off Hwy. 36 in Lindsay, Ontario.
Technical Operators are the leaders embedded within the lines of our plant floor. Operators are responsible for wearing three vital “hats” as they perform their role. These three “hats” are those of a coach, leader and expert. Not only are Technical Operators expected to set up our equipment, run it and complete required paperwork, but they are expected to lead the line they are assigned to towards achieving our plant goals and producing the highest quality chevre possible. Technical Operators are required to maintain a positive, can-do attitude while adhering to strict food safety standards. Clear, competent communication is a must with all levels of the plant as the Technical Operator may interact with several different departments throughout the course of a normal work day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and promotes Mariposa Dairy’s Core values
- Adheres to all General Manufacturing Principles (GMP)
- Run machines as required
- Directs personnel on the line to carry out and accomplish necessary tasks
- Strives to adhere to plant schedules
- Coach others on approved best practices
- Is an expert on relevant departmental SOPs
- Maintains pace at or above company standards and pushes their assigned team towards total efficiency (TE)
- Communicates challenges to the Lead Hand and works with others to overcome them
- Responsible for setup of department machines and equipment
- Responsible for change overs as required for their line
- Fill out appropriate reports as required in an accurate, legible and timely manner
- Conduct CCP checks in accordance with GMP’s: metal detectors when required
- Assures quality checks by staff are conducted
- At end of day is responsible for preparation of equipment for sanitation
- Communicates with Managers, Supervisors, Lead Hands and employees in a respectful positive manner
- Maintains good communication between all team members
- Heavy lifting required, must be able to lift 24kgs
- Flexible hours are essential
- Some work on public holidays and/ or weekends
- Other duties as assigned
Multivac Packaging
Must perform all duties listed above in addition to:
- Responsible for the set-up, change over, operate and tear down of Multivac packaging machines and related equipment
- Able to lead and give clear direction to the Multivac team
- Adheres to and strives to achieve Multivac production schedules
Portioning
Must perform all duties listed above in addition to:
- Set up, operate and tear down the Berry Applicator as per the relevant SOP
- Set up, perform wash out, operate and tear down the Marelec Slicer as per relevant SOP
- Set up, operate and tear down the Handtmann portioners as per the relevant SOP
- Set up, operate and tear down the guillotine machine as per the relevant SOP
- Set up, operate and tear down the Handtmann Forming System (Flow Divider) as per the relevant SOP
- Set up, operate and tear down the IQF tunnel as per the relevant SOP
- Set up, operate and tear down the Cabin plant Multi scale Head as per the relevant SOP
- Responsible for change overs, set up or tear down of production line secondary machines (weigh checker, transfer belt, De-clumper, etc.) as required, on schedule
Cooker
Must perform all duties listed above in addition to:
- Set up, operate and tear down the cooker and Multivac T300 tray sealer as per relevant SOP
- Perform CIP as required
- Perform required ATP testing as per relevant SOP
Packline
Must perform all duties listed above in addition to:
- Set up, operate and tear down and change-over all lines in the packline department
- Understand, and be able to fulfill all customers pallet patterns and stacking requests
- Understand lot, BBD and labeling requirements for each product
- Actively learn how to complete paperwork and electronic document requirements to create outputs, record time, and understand controlled documents.
- Safely operate electronic carts as required
