Our Nuclear Canada business is experiencing significant growth driven in part by planned New Build projects underway internationally and domestically. Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company, is involved in the deployment of the GEH BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) at Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Darlington site. It will be the first grid-scale SMR deployed in Canada.
We are currently seeking Technical Manager, Engineering Design and Modelling – Site Support to join our team at the project site office, in Oshawa, Ontario.
Your role within the team:
- Lead a team of designers and modelers in preparation of overall plant (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and I&C) 3D models and subsequent drawing output in support of field construction output.
- Ensure Plant Modeling standards are adhered to across the team.
- Produce and maintain a high level and consistent accuracy and quality of models and drawings with self-check and formal reviews.
- Define the optimum structure for the project team with established accountability and reporting structure.
- Plan, schedule and track project activities, commitments, deliverables along with resources and budget.
- Participate in a diverse range of meetings and initiatives to improve workflows, authoring tools and information exchange.
- Perform project and design file health checks, model management, maintenance, and assessment.
- Assist in project set-up including creation of execution plans, implement design coordination and issue tracking (clash detection).
- Ensure all models, output and project data is correctly established and maintained in accordance with company standards and project requirements.
The ideal candidate:
- University Degree or College Diploma in engineering, architecture, or equivalent technical discipline with 15 years of experience relevant to the work, including experience leading technical teams.
- Extensive AutoCAD, Plant3D and Revit experience and knowledge of a wide variety of authoring tools e.g., Bentley, Esri and Revit.
- Strong business acumen – the ability to think, plan, execute and negotiate strategically with strong commercial orientation and understanding of financial measures.
- Detailed knowledge of model-based design (BIM) protocols, standards and software.
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.
- Excellent clients focus and conflict resolution skills.
